New here? The short version.

The Quick Scan is a fast first look at one franchise company, built only from public records. It's an easy way to see what the public record shows about a brand before you spend money on anything bigger.

What's in a Quick Scan

Public sources only, and every fact links to its source. If we couldn't reach a source, we say so instead of guessing.

Thirteen states require franchises to register before selling there. We show where this one is and isn't registered, with links.

Lawsuits and government actions

Court records, plus any action by the FTC (the federal consumer-protection agency) or state regulators, involving the company and its related businesses.

What people say

What owners, customers, and staff say on Reddit, Indeed, Glassdoor, and elsewhere, quoted and linked.

Competition in your market

How many locations and direct competitors are already near where you'd open.

Preliminary risk score

A 1–10 score from our published checklist (10 = highest risk), with a one-line reason and a confidence band (Low, Medium, or High) showing the range the score could move to once the FDD is read. How the risk score works.

Top questions

The questions to get answered in writing and to bring to your franchise attorney.

Not included: a read of the franchise's disclosure document (the FDD), including fees, earnings claims, owner turnover, and contract terms. Those are in the Full Report.

Upgrade with full credit

Want to look deeper at the same brand? Your Quick Scan ends with a list of the checklist items it couldn't test without the FDD. The final score comes with the Full Report. Upgrade within 14 days and the whole $39.99 comes off. You pay $309 instead of $349.

Common questions

What's an FDD?

It's the Franchise Disclosure Document. Federal rules say the franchise seller has to give it to you at least 14 calendar days before you sign or pay. It covers the fees, lawsuits, any earnings claims, how many owners have left, the company's finances, and the contract. It's often well over 100 pages, so it helps to have someone walk through it.

Where do I get the FDD?

From the franchise company. Just ask your sales contact for the current one. Under the FTC Franchise Rule, they have to give it to you when you reasonably ask. Some states also post FDDs in free public databases, and we check those for you. If there's no current copy there, we'll send you a short letter you can use to ask for it.

Is this legal advice?

No. This is a research report built from public records. We don't tell you whether to sign, whether a clause is enforceable, or what to negotiate. Have a licensed franchise attorney review the FDD and agreements before you sign or pay anything.

What if the brand isn't in any state database?

That's common, especially for newer brands or ones that don't sell in the states that require registration. It doesn't mean something is wrong. A Quick Scan doesn't need it, because we work from other public records. For a Full Report, ask the franchise for its current FDD (we'll give you a letter to send) and upload it. If you can't get one, you can switch to a Quick Scan instead. See our Refund Policy.

Refunds: All sales are final once your report is downloaded. Refunds are available only before download, or if the download fails due to a technical problem on our side. See a full sample report before you buy. Refund Policy.
